some new gigs in Ireland

The UK tour is nearly over, two more gigs in Basingstoke tonight and Leicester tomorrow night. It’s been great touring with Yvonne and Gentry and I had a chance to play some venues I’ve not played before like the Cellars last night in Southsea. We recorded the show in Brighton, thanks to Paul Burton for his work there and we hope to release the live show in some form before Christmas. It will be available through all our websites so make sure you are on the mailing list for up-dates.

I have added some new gigs in Lynch’s Bar in Tullamore on the 30th Oct and in the Spirit Store in Dundalk on the 27th November. Please see the gig guide for booking details. Thanks to everyone who came to the UK shows, bought cds, left comments on the website and who generally supported the live music and a huge thank you to our booking agent and general helpful person Jonathan Johnson and to the lovely Napier family who allowed us all to invade their houses, sleep on sofas and drink their tea over the last three weeks.

DISTRESSING NEWS

DISTRESSING NEWS -Gentry Morris under cloud of suspician after being accused of pilfering seven wooden coat hangers from a certain hotel in Bilston. Yvonne and I wondered why Gentry’s body had looked so oddly angular during the last few days but we thought he had developed rickets on a Burger King tour diet. However following an email from our hotel in Bilston demanding an explanation for the disappearance of seven hangers from his room, it all becomes clear. He has those seven coat hangers secreted about his person and plans to sell them on e-bay when he returns to Ireland.A hanger is probably worth more than a cd these days anyway. Just be careful if you want a hug with your signed cd.

Just gearing up to go on stage in Aberdeen at the Lemontree after driving up from Berwick. We had a very intimate gig in Barrells Alehouse last night, completely unplugged after a couple of easy days mooching around the town. We went along to the beer and food festivals, drank some whisky cider, visited the old-fashioned sweetie shop and bought some Fisherman’s Friends for old time’s sake. We’re settling into the set nicely, Gentry is scooping up accolades from everywhere and being told that he sounds like a young Jackson Browne and Yvonne ‘s new album “Ashes and Gold” was given five stars by Maverick Magazine. Me, I am enjoying sitting on the end of the line and singing harmonies.

We have been driving a LOT the last while – Troon to Norwich, Norwich to York, York to berwick, Berwick to Aberdeen and the next journey is Aberdeen to Wolverhampton – Yikes. Driving is made easier by the fact that the three of us share the driving and we pass the time by listening to Roald Dahl audiobooks – “James and the Giant Peach” and “The BFG”. Tonight, we’re going to start Yvonne on Harry Potter, she’s never read any of the books. It’s not rock’n'roll but it keeps her from snorting lines of coke in the back seat when Gentry and I are not watching.

More anon…

20th September, Twick Folk

There still seems to be some confusion on the gigs listings. There is NO gig in the Grey horse in Kingston on the 20th, the gig is the Cabbage Patch Pub. See details on the tour gig above. Also, I am not playing in the Slaughtered Lamb in London, this was briefly on the list but is not happening now. Hope this clears matters up.
