UK Tour
Uncategorized September 14th, 2009Just gearing up to go on stage in Aberdeen at the Lemontree after driving up from Berwick. We had a very intimate gig in Barrells Alehouse last night, completely unplugged after a couple of easy days mooching around the town. We went along to the beer and food festivals, drank some whisky cider, visited the old-fashioned sweetie shop and bought some Fisherman’s Friends for old time’s sake. We’re settling into the set nicely, Gentry is scooping up accolades from everywhere and being told that he sounds like a young Jackson Browne and Yvonne ‘s new album “Ashes and Gold” was given five stars by Maverick Magazine. Me, I am enjoying sitting on the end of the line and singing harmonies.
We have been driving a LOT the last while – Troon to Norwich, Norwich to York, York to berwick, Berwick to Aberdeen and the next journey is Aberdeen to Wolverhampton – Yikes. Driving is made easier by the fact that the three of us share the driving and we pass the time by listening to Roald Dahl audiobooks – “James and the Giant Peach” and “The BFG”. Tonight, we’re going to start Yvonne on Harry Potter, she’s never read any of the books. It’s not rock’n'roll but it keeps her from snorting lines of coke in the back seat when Gentry and I are not watching.
More anon…

Hi Juliet, Yvonne and Gentry. thank you all so very, very much for an incredible gig on Sunday at Berwick. What a great atmosphere you created. It felt like having the three of you play in our front room! Wonderful stuff. Juliet, thanks for playing ‘Tuesday night ladies’ (my fav, 2nd only to ‘Vampire’) and dedicating it, we were over the moon! Wishing you all the best for the rest of the tour and be careful on those roads all of you. All the very best to the three of you.

Hi Folks – the same grateful thanks from us too!! We were at the rather less intimate venue of The Duchess in York on Friday last where the seating is separated from the stage by a dance floor. Juliet made it much nicer by inviting us to pull our chairs on to the floor and closer to the stage and “have a lie down if you like”! – just like storytime! Another really lovely evening with Juliet, Yvonne and Gentry -what STARS !!! – the new format of all three together worked well. As Trev says, take care on the rest of your travels!!

Hi Juliet, Really enjoyed the gig tonight in sunny Bilston. great chatting to you, Yvonne and Gentry. My daughter Clare and her friend Fern had a great time as did me and my wife. The kids loved it when whenever you spoke about the young and youth you seemed to glance over at them. Drive safe, look after the kids…. I mean the kit. enjoy London.

Hi Juliet and Yvonne (I see Gentry as heard of Portsmouth’s reputation and didn’t want to lose his ‘coat hangers’!) Just got home following a very ‘intimate’ gig (Pompey’s* loss) at the Cellars and just wanted to say a BIG thank-you for a wonderful evening and that there will always be a ‘Rainbow’ to welcome you if you ever decide to return to sunny S O U T H S E A
Wanted to come up and say hello but was too embarrassed as i had no cash left for CD . . . and ashamedly had to sneak out . . . please forgive me!
Gutted when I realised I’d missed you at Glasto and definitely wont make the same mistake if you’re there for 2010 celebrations (very cheky of me but do you know if Damian Rice might be there?)
If you are staying over, hope you get time to look round the seafront especially Old Portsmouth/Gunwharf or the stunning view from Portsdown Hill as the weather will be fab and who knows’ it may even give a little inspiration (well it works for me when playing the bagpipes!)
*Yvonne will understand although I very much doubt if there are any Pompey players in her Fantasy ‘footie’ team?!!
Best wishes, safe journey and may there always be rainbows to greet you wherever you go . . to be shure . .
