B.A. Robertson
Uncategorized December 13th, 2009It’s an honour for me that the wonderful songwriter B.A. Robertson is joining me for the gig in Strule Arts Centre on 30th December. B.A. is perhaps best known for writing the beautiful “The Living Years” which was a huge hit for Mike and the Mechanics, has accumulated more than 70 silver, gold, and platinum record awards and continues to write and perform.

We think B A should feel honoured too Juliet! He obviously knows a class act when he sees one!!!

PS Don’t know how else to bring this to everyone’s notice but fellow Juliet fans will love listening to Juliet’s WONDERFUL “Winter’s Tale” – we found it on Spottify but may be available elsewhere. Absolutely lovely Juliette!!!

Can’t find a place to review a gig so I’ll use here. Absolutely spellbinding – all three. The quirky honesty of the lyrics coupled with that pitch perfect voice, then the second voice! – there’s a voice to rival you Julie; and Co (was that his name?) brought in at 2 day’s notice with gorgeous guitar.
My only reservations about the gig are my own. When the question went out “what do you men do on a Tuesday night?” I wanted to yell out “wear Versace”, but was too inhibited. Why? God knows.
I had 2 of the chislers with me, aged 13 and 14 (and of course you don’t say nothing in front of chislers – or suffer for the rest of your life). But therein lies part of the answer – they are songs of experience; of shared humanity, with a sprinkling of magic thrown in. I tried to get my 2 to listen to “pizza” before the gig, but to no avail (though they both know “Short Loan Only”) so I subjected them to “People Have Names” on the way down. When we got to Omagh I put on “Elder of the Tribe” and we sat in the car and I explained it to them. Couldn’t they figure it out for themselves? – tell you what -
They were very impressed with the gig, without knowing the songs. They even said it out loud (we usually use communicate using body language) – I know they were as spellbound as I was, in whatever way spells work for them.
Spellbinding.
