Hi Juliet, My name is Deirdre and I’ve loved you ever since first being introduced to “Burn the Black Suit” years ago. I am particularly in love with Belfast Central and I was wondering if I could have your permission to put it on my demo? I have a version recorded but I didn’t put it up online as I don’t own the rites to it. Its quite a simple interpretation really, just me singing and playing piano, If I forwarded the recording of it to you and you liked it, would it be ok to put it on my myspace page? Sincere condolences on the loss of your friend xx

At the interval, after your set (you began with “Dr Fell” and played most of the “Let’s Hear It For Pizza” album – it’s a crystal clear memory) I bought the album. It’s been a huge favourite ever since. I picked up the second album, too, and then the music press stopped writing (at least on this side of the pond) and I took far too long to look you up. I was at your gig in Cyprus Avenue last night and sorry to say I was a bit disappointed. You were incredible as usual, but I was a quite annoyed at mainly 2 things. It was my first time in this venue and it’ll be my last. The noise coming through from next door was appalling. Not your fault I know. The second was though. I have never seen you come and go so fast at any of your gigs. It was so short. I don’t know whether this was because of the noise in the venue or simply because this is now your normal setlist. I have seen you live probably more than 10 times and have never left disappointed til now. Again I stress you were incredible and I absolutely loved your version of roll back the clouds. I am a huge fan of Christy Hennessy and I definitely think he would have loved it. Hope to see you in cork or the suburbs again soon.
